Explorer Post 925 Wins Awards in Annual Explorers Conference
Edina, Minn., May 4, 2016 – Edina/Eden Prairie Law Enforcement Explorers Post 925 took home multiple
awards from the 41st-annual Minnesota Law Enforcement Exploring Conference in Rochester, Minnesota, in
late April.
“We are extremely proud of our Explorers Post,” said Patrol Officer Mike Sussman, one of the Post’s
advisors. “They worked very hard this year and donated hundreds of hours of their time to our communities.
Their hard work and dedication showed at the state conference.”
Since September, Explorers have put in nearly 90 hours training and preparing for the annual conference.
The scenario-based competition required Explorers to act out, in teams of four, realistic scenarios related to
law enforcement. The conference is designed to keep Explorers current on their skills, challenge participants
and create an environment for learning. Post 925 took home several team and individual awards, including:
1st and 3rd place in the sample police exam
1st place in taser classroom training
1st and 2nd place in crime prevention
2nd place in bomb scene response
2nd place in crime scene search
3rd place in traffic accident reconstruction
4th place in traffic stops
5th place in emergency first aid
Participants from Post 925 competed against approximately 500 other Explorers from three states during the
conference.
Explorer Post 925 is made up of approximately 25 Edina and Eden Prairie students interested in law
enforcement, ranging in age from 14 to 20. The Explorers learn firsthand about the law enforcement
profession through lectures, practical scenarios, ride-alongs and volunteering with the Police Departments.
Post 925 is part of a national program that includes more than 33,000 Explorers and more than 8,000 adult
advisors. Post 925 has several advisors from both the Edina and Eden Prairie Police Departments.
Explorer post 925 is now preparing for the National Explorer Conference held in Arizona in July. The Post
plans to send three teams.
Post 925 meets every Tuesday at the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility in Edina. For more
