The discussion, which focuses on Open Streets on 50th, is available until Aug. 8. In September 2015, the City and the 50th & France Business Association held the first “Open Streets on 50th” event, closing streets in the area to focus on non-motorized use of Edina’s streets. Organizers estimate nearly 9,000 people attended the four-hour event. More than 100 businesses, community organizations, service clubs and athletic associations provided food, entertainment, information and more. The mission of Open Streets on 50th is to get outside, get active and to make connections. Organizers are planning the second Open Streets on 50th for Sunday, Sept. 25. In the discussion, the City asks whether residents attended the inaugural event in 2015, what they thought of the event, what changes should be made for the upcoming 2016 event, what they thought of the variety of organizations and businesses present at the event, and what would entice them to attend the 2016 event. Feedback from this discussion will be compiled and presented to the City Council Aug. 16, and will be shared with the Open Streets on 50th planning committee. In June, the City has been gathering feedback on residential recycling services. In the discussion, the City asks residents if the current cart sizes and bi-weekly pick-up schedules are adequate for their needs; if they are willing to pay more for weekly pick-up and, if so, how much; and if the environmental impact of a weekly pick- up versus bi-weekly pick-up is important to them. This discussion is open until July 11. Feedback from this discussion will be compiled and presented to the City Council July 19. To weigh in on a discussion, visit SpeakUpEdina.org. -30-
