Fire damages Edina deck on York Avenue
Edina, Minn., July 27, 2016 – The Edina Fire Department was called to the 7600 block of York Avenue at
5:22 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, after receiving reports of a deck fire.
Fire crews arrived to discover a working fire on the deck of a second-floor unit. Firefighters were able to
quickly extinguish the fire. There were no injuries.
The fire was most likely caused from carelessly discarded smoking materials.
“Whether inside or out, it’s important to properly discard smoking materials,” said Fire Marshal Jeff Siems.
“Before tossing out butts and ashes, make sure they are out by dousing in water or sand.”
The Edina Fire Department received mutual aid from the Bloomington and Richfield fire departments.
