The paper-shredding event will be held rain or shine 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Edina Liquor – Southdale, 6755 York Ave. S. Everyone is invited to bring up to six boxes or bags of personal and confidential documents for free shredding on site. Though the event is free, a donation to VEAP is encouraged. An extra hour has been added this year because the event has been so popular in past years. In the two hours Edina Liquor shredded last year, they collected 600 pounds of food and over $900 in cash donations. “It’s a good way to give back, and a win-win for everyone,” said Liquor Operations Director Steve Grausam. “We keep paper out of the landfills and help people de-clutter while helping those who are less fortunate.” Edina Liquor’s annual food drive is from Oct. 1 to 31. Those who donate five non-perishable food items or more will receive a coupon good for 10 percent off a purchase at Edina Liquor. VEAP can turn each dollar collected into three pounds of food. Last year, Edina Liquor collected a record 736 pounds of food and almost $7,000 in cash donations. That means VEAP, due to its buying power, purchased over $20,000 in food. Edina Liquor wants to break that record again this year and help even more families in need. For more information, contact Grausam at 952-903-5732. -30-
