HomeMy WebLinkAboutPress Release- Open Streets on 50th City of Edina 4801 W. 50th St. Edina, MN 55424 Contact: Lauren Siebenaler, Communications Intern Phone 952-833-9522 CommIntern@EdinaMN.gov EdinaMN.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Second-Annual ‘Open Streets on 50th’ Set For Sept. 25 Edina, Minn., Sept. 25, 2015 – The City of Edina will close West 50th Street between Wooddale Avenue in Edina and Chowen Avenue in Minneapolis along with France Avenue from 49½ Street to 51st Street Sunday, Sept. 25, for the second-annual “Open Streets on 50th” event. Along with the 50th & France Business & Professional Association, the City invites the community to get outside, be active and connect with neighbors from 1 to 5 p.m. The street will be open to bikes and pedestrians to enjoy music, food, dance, games, arts, yoga and other creative and active events. Civic, athletic, artistic, creative and neighborhood groups, as well as businesses, will participate by hosting events, demonstrations, activities and more. Dogs are welcome at the event. “We are excited to host our second-annual Open Streets on 50th event. We have many local organizations, groups, and businesses attending and we look forward to the new additions,” said Recreation Supervisor Amanda Clarke. “Bark for Life is one new addition to this year’s event and we are excited to expand our dog- friendly activities.” “We are looking forward to another engaged crowd that enjoys kids’ games, family activities, basketball, music, samples, foods from our local restaurants, beer from Red Cow, fun games and the ability to explore their neighborhood downtown for the afternoon,” said Rachel Thelemann, Executive Director of the 50th & France Business & Professional Association. A listing of activities and booths will be posted on the City’s website closer to the event date. Anyone interested can help make Open Streets on 50th a success by volunteering. Volunteers are needed to help set up, tear down, assist at information booths, survey attendees and staff the bike corral and bike rodeo.
