Every few days, the toys are collected from the locations, but the final day to donate is Dec. 18. The toys will be distributed to families in Richfield, Edina, southwest Minneapolis and Bloomington. VEAP has been easing the holiday stress for families for many years with this drive by collecting toys and basic necessities for as many as 4,500 local children. According to VEAP, the greatest need is for push-pull-roll and music-and-movement toys for children ages 0 to 3; picture and chapter books for ages 0-18; arts-and-crafts activities; learning games and sporting goods for children ages 4 to 18. VEAP also suggests hats, mittens, scarves and family games for all ages and $20 gift cards to local retailers for older children. A full wish list of items is available online at www.veapvolunteers.org. The Edina Police Department is located at 4801 W. 50th Street, and Edina Fire Station No. 1 is at 6250 Tracy Avenue. Toys can be dropped off at the Police Department any hour of the day, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the fire station. For more information, visit www.veapvolunteers.org or call 952-888-9616. -30-
