Planning Commission Working Groups Seek New Members
Edina, Minn., Feb. 16, 2017 – The Planning Commission is looking for members to participate in a new
working group for the 44th & France Small Area Plan. The working group will engage neighborhood residents,
businesses, and other stakeholders in the area of 44th Street and France Avenue in order to develop a Small
Area Plan as part of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan Update.
Local residents, property owners or business managers in the 44th and France area are encouraged to apply
online at EdinaMN.gov/ 44-France-WorkGroup. Applications are due March 6.
“We’re looking for residents and business managers who have a passion for the Morningside area. We hope to
see applicants who are interested in helping shape the future of the commercial area at 44th & France,”
explained Community Development Director Cary Teague. “In addition to orientation meetings and
workshops, working group members can expect to spend time meeting with other property and business
owners and neighborhood associations.”
The 44th & France area had previously been identified as an area of potential change in the 2008 Comprehensive
Plan. A Small Area Plan was not completed at that time, but will be as part of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan
Update.
The working group will consist of seven members. Members can expect to attend two one-hour orientation
meetings, three two-hour workshops and spend four to eight hours over the study period for additional
outreach. The commitment will be for two to four months.
