This working group will develop a theme and agenda for the Days of Remembrance event, identify a venue and guest speakers or presenters, help publicize and assist with day-of event logistics. “We are seeking input from community members who may have enjoyed previous years’ events and those who may have ideas on how best to structure a public event that will continue to remember and honor victims and survivors of the Holocaust and genocides and will raise awareness regarding the issues of genocide and how to make a difference,” explained HRRC Member Pat Arseneault. “With each year’s Days of Remembrance event, the commission strives to provide a meaningful experience for those who attend.” The Days of Remembrance event provides an opportunity to remember and honor victims of the Holocaust and genocides and to share experiences of survivors of the Holocaust. The event serves to educate the community on how the Holocaust and genocide impacts the lives of survivors and affects the community. It’s also a time to reflect on what can be done to make a difference. “We have had a great deal of interest in the past from Days of Remembrance attendees and members in the community looking to get more involved. We want to take advantage of that energy and interest,” said Project Coordinator and HRRC Staff Liaison MJ Lamon. “This year, the HRRC has a busy work plan, so this support will be invaluable.” The Working Group will consist of three to five members and is open to any interested candidates. Members can expect a time commitment of three to six hours per month, with the commitment ending in May. Interested candidates can apply online at EdinaMN.gov/DOR-Work-Group. Applications are due Feb. 23. For more information, contact Lamon at 952-826-0360 or MLamon@EdinaMN.gov. -30-
