FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Author’s Studio Features Author Tom Dahill
Edina, Minn., Feb. 16, 2017 – The Edina Art Center will host the first Author’s Studio event for
2017, featuring writer, performer and musician Tom Dahill. The Author’s Studio will be held 10-11 a.m.
Saturday, Feb. 25. The event is free and open to the public.
The Author’s Studio is styled after the old television show “The Actor’s Studio” and features Minnesota
history, cookbook, children’s book, memoir and mystery writers. Authors provide a more personal
glimpse into their works through readings and discussions.
Dahill wrote Four Decades of Irish Music and Mischief, a memoir recounting his personal adventures
growing up in the Irish neighborhoods in St. Paul. Dahill spent time in the workhouse, but eventually
abandoned mischief for music and encountered a colorful cast of Irish musicians and characters in St.
Paul, Boston, Chicago and New Orleans and across Ireland as he mastered the rich and vibrant
traditions of Irish music and song.
Dahill tours extensively across the United States and Ireland. Over the past four decades, he has
contributed to the revival of interest in Irish music. He learned his craft directly from the practitioners
of the arts of Irish music, handed down by word of mouth and caught by ear and memory. In his early
years, he was befriended and mentored by some of the most notable Irish musicians, singers, writers
and storytellers, including Terrance Teahan, Paddy Hill and Pat Flannagan. Dahill appears regularly at
many local venues, including The Dubliner Pub and Café in St. Paul.
