The discussion, which focuses on technology in City facilities and parks, is available until March 31. The City of Edina offers free WiFi at all of its major buildings and some parks. The "Edina Open" wireless network is provided as a service to the community. Conference rooms are also available after hours for the public to reserve as well as warming houses in City parks. Computers and projectors are available in some, but not all, of those spaces. In this discussion, the City asks residents: If free WiFi was available in outdoor parks, would you use it? How many times a year? When community groups use a public building for a meeting, what technology is expected in those meeting rooms for their use? If the City were to provide charging stations for phones and mobile devices, would you use them? If so, where? The feedback from this discussion will be compiled and presented to the City Council April 18. This month, the City has been gathering feedback on the proposed 49 ½ Street mixed-use redevelopment in downtown Edina. The City asked residents how can the first phase on the north side of the street be improved or enhanced to better meet the needs of the community; how can the second phase be improved or enhanced; what is needed to ensure this project’s success; what in the proposed public plaza would draw them to the area more frequently; and if they have other suggestions for the overall project. The feedback from this discussion will be compiled and presented to the City Council March 21. To weigh in on a discussion, visit SpeakUpEdina.org. -30-
