2017 Environmental Film Series Begins Next Month
Edina, Minn., March 16, 2017 – The City of Edina Energy & Environment Commission’s (EEC) 2017
Environmental Film series will be held the third Thursday of the month through September. (No film will be
shown in July). The films will be shown at the Edina Senior Center, 5280 Grandview Square, and are free to
attend.
“This film series is a monthly film screening on topics that will help residents learn about current and future
impacts of our community’s energy use, and actions they can take to move toward a smart energy future to
support the City’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent by 2025,” said Commissioner Lauren
Satterlee. “All of the films are focused around climate and energy. We hope to see a wide range of attendees
this year.”
This year’s screenings will include a variety of critically acclaimed movies:
“Before the Flood,” 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20
“Facing the Surge,” 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18
“Merchants of Doubt,” 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15
“The Lorax,” 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17
“No Impact Man,” 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21
The City is working on an energy action plan to help business owners and residents develop and implement
community-driven goals around energy. Sustainability Coordinator and Staff Liaison for the EEC, Tara Brown,
sees the film series as a way for residents to learn more. The EEC plans to continue the momentum built by the
film series by offering a home energy fair in October.
Citizens Climate Lobby, Edina Garbage Man, Grandview Tire & Auto, Jerry’s Foods, Suburban Waste Services
and Vierkant Disposal LLC are sponsoring the movies.
Popcorn will be served at the screenings. For more information, contact Brown at 952-826-1621 or
