The project objectives are to identify race-based disparities in Edina’s City government facilities, services and institutions, and propose remedies and solutions to the City government policies and operating practices that are creating disparities. Facilitators will work directly with members of the Race & Equity Task Force and report to City Manager Scott Neal. “The City of Edina wants to be known as a welcoming community that values the diverse communal contributions and quality of life for all residents, employees, and visitors with our community,” Neal said. In addition to creating the Race & Equity Task Force and three working groups, the City has joined a national network of government organizations working to achieve racial equity and advance opportunities for all, Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE). Firms interested in facilitating should respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP) that can found online at EdinaMN.gov/publicnotices. Proposals are due 4 p.m. April 14. They must be submitted to the City of Edina Administration Department at 4801 W. 50th St., Edina, MN 55424. Interviews with the most qualified firms will be held the week of April 24. It is anticipated that the City Council will approve a contract with a facilitator at its meeting May 2. If so, the Task Force and working groups will kick off the first phase of its work and begin formal meetings that same week.
