Concrete Repairs Coming to West 50th Street
Edina, Minn., March 31, 2017 – A section of West 50th Street close to and over Minnesota State
Highway 100 will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting April 17 for concrete repairs.
The project, expected to last about three weeks, will fix joints and replace bad sections of the concrete
roadway. The construction area is 50th/Vernon Avenue from the railroad tracks west of Highway 100 to Dale
Drive on the east.
Drivers who want to avoid congestions caused by lane limitations can easily detour on Eden Avenue.
The City has patched small areas of that street before, but this will be a major rehabilitation, Assistant City
Engineer Carter Schulze said. The repairs will fix some of the loops cut into the concrete for traffic signal
wires and get rid of those bumpy patches.
PCiRoads, which specializes in this type of roadwork, has been contracted for the $319,000 project, with the
City of Edina and Hennepin County roughly splitting the cost.
