Student Positions Open for City of Edina Commissions
Edina, Minn., April 27, 2017 – The City of Edina seeks applications from high school students for the
City’s eight commissions. Two seats for high school students are available on each of the commissions.
Commissions include:
Arts & Culture Commission
Community Health Commission
Energy & Environment Commission
Heritage Preservation Commission
Human Rights & Relations Commission
Parks & Recreation Commission
Planning Commission
Transportation Commission
“Serving as a student commissioner offers students a unique perspective on issues facing their community
and gives them a chance to become actively involved in their own local government,” said Project
Coordinator MJ Lamon. “In addition, their presence on our boards provides other commission members a
unique and fresh perspective. It’s something that benefits the City as well as each student commission
member.”
Applicants must be 14-17 years old and live in Edina to participate. Appointments are yearlong and begin on
Sept. 1. Applications must be submitted by May 31; interviews will be held in June. To learn more or to
