FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Theft from Autos Increase as Temperatures Warm Up
Edina, Minn., April 19, 2017 — As the temperatures rise, the number of theft from autos also
increases. Overnight on April 13, money, sunglasses and a checkbook were some of the items stolen
from six cars in the northeast corner of Edina. The thefts took place on Chowen, Ewing, Drew and
Beard avenues.
All of the vehicles were unlocked. Several other vehicles in the area were tampered with. However,
there was no loss reported.
“The first line of prevention is locking your vehicle’s doors and having your windows closed,” said Sgt.
Nate Mendel. “The second thing is not to leave anything of value in your car.”
Residents should call 911 immediately to report any suspicious behavior.
