See Latest Plan for Fred Richards Park at May 22 Open House
Edina, Minn., May 3, 2017 – The latest draft concept plan for the future Fred Richards Park will be
unveiled to the community at an open house Monday, May 22.
The 6:30 p.m. event will start with an overview of the latest plan. People will have the opportunity to ask
questions and will be asked to complete a survey with their feedback.
The meeting will be held in the multi-purpose room of the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility, 7450
Metro Blvd.
Fred Richards Park is being created on the 43 acres of the Fred Richards Golf Course, which closed in 2014.
At nearly double the size of Centennial Lakes Park, Fred Richards Park is expected to be used for a variety of
activities year round.
The latest draft plan was developed from community input on three concept plans. Under the plan, most of
the park would be for passive recreation, such as walking, bicycling or an afternoon picnic. More active
recreational amenities like athletic fields, pickleball courts and playgrounds would be on the east side. A
segment of the Nine Mile Creek Trail winds through the southern section of the park.
Those who cannot attend the open house will be able to see the concept plan online at
EdinaMN.gov/fredrichardspark after May 22 and fill out the same survey to give their thoughts.
