Uram fills a vacancy left by past Finance Director Eric Roggeman, who resigned in March. Uram previously served as Finance Director for the city of Prior Lake. “Don has held a variety of finance positions and, in particular, he has some skills in the community development and economic development areas that I think are going to be very relevant for the specific financial challenges that the City is facing and will face in the next decade,” said City Manager Scott Neal. Uram grew up near Cloquet, Minnesota, and obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and then traveled to Texas A&M for his master’s degree in City Planning. Following college, Uram came home to Minnesota and worked for the City of Eden Prairie. During his time in Eden Prairie, he obtained a master’s degree in Finance from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, allowing him to serve in a variety of roles. Uram held the positions of Economic Development Manager, Assistant Finance Director and Finance Director for the City of Eden Prairie over the course of his 19-year tenure with Eden Prairie. Following his time with Eden Prairie, Uram took a public finance role in the Middle East, handling public finance in Iraq and India. When Uram returned to the United States, he served as President of Insignia Development for three years before taking a role as the City Manager for the City of Victoria. He was in that role for six years before taking on the positions of Director of Administrative Services for the City of Wayzata followed by the Finance Director for Prior Lake. “I have a unique background. I have a master’s degree in city planning and that’s where I started my career, in city planning and economic development. I spent years doing that,” said Uram. “Then, I went back to the Carlson School of Business with the University of Minnesota and got an MBA in Finance. Now, I’ve spent the rest of my career focusing more on finance and administration.” Uram looks forward to the challenges and is facing them with energy and excitement. “I’m really looking forward to learning more about enterprise funds. It’s part of my background. In Eden Prairie, I managed the liquor operations and oversaw them in Wayzata, plus my private sector experience in the housing business,” said Uram. “So I'm very interested in the enterprise operations and excited to understand them better, make improvements, increase revenues and really take a business look at things.” For more information, contact Uram at 952-826-0414 or duram@EdinaMN.gov. -30- City of Edina 4801 W. 50th St. Edina, MN 55424
