Council Member Elected to Metro Cities Board of Directors
Edina, Minn., May 3, 2017 – Edina City Council Member Bob Stewart was elected to the Metro
Cities Board of Directors Thursday, April 20.
“We want Edina to be engaged with our neighboring communities on a variety of issues. It’s good to
be good neighbors,” said Stewart.
The Board of Directors is made up of 16 Minnesota council members, city managers and mayors.
Anne Mavity, St. Louis Park Council Member, serves as the President of the organization. She leads
with the help of the Vice President Gary Hansen, an Eagan Council Member.
“There are interests that the cities from the metro area have in common,” said Stewart. “Metro
Cities has people that represent our interests at the State Legislature. They are things that are
considered good for the metro communities.”
Metro Cities aims to be a voice for metropolitan cities at the Legislature and Metropolitan Council
to influence State legislation affecting metro area cities. They represent 91 cities, bring city officials
from across the region together to share ideas and experiences, and lobby on a wide range of
policies.
