Other nominees in that category were Pioneer Public Television’s “Postcards: Train Car Mural” and TP Production’s “Ret. Col. Marty Mahrt.” “On the Job,” hosted by Edina City Manager Scott Neal, was also nominated in the category. “For a video of relatively brief length, you get to know quite a bit about the artist and their work,” said Edina Art Center General Manager Michael Frey. “That is the skill of the videographer in ‘Public Art Profiles’ – they are put together exceptionally well. I watch ‘Public Art Profiles’ again and again because of the content, the music and how the video is cut together. Really impressive work.” The City received the same award in 2015 and 2016. “Public Art Profiles” is currently produced by Video Production Coordinator Scott Denfeld. The City of Edina received four other nominations in the 2017 competition for “Beyond the Badge,” the City’s monthly public safety program. Nominations were earned in the “Crime” category for a segment on a child sex abuse case; “Public/Current/Community Affairs – Program” category; “Special Event Coverage (other than news and sports)” category for coverage of National Police Week in Washington, DC; and “Editor – Program (non-news)” category for Dietrich Nissen’s work on the show. Entries made to the Upper Midwest Chapter were judged by panels assembled by other National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Chapters. These judging panels are comprised of no fewer than five judges with no more than three of the judges employed by the same station or company. There may be one award, more than one award or no award given in each category. The Communications & Technology Services Department has been nominated for at least two Emmy Awards each year since 2009, and has brought home the gold statuette a total of four times.
