FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
44th and France Community Meeting Set for Oct. 16
Edina, Minn., Oct. 5, 2017 – A community meeting Monday, Oct. 16, will include some draft guiding
principles and development concepts for the 44th & France area.
The 44th & France Small Area Plan Working Group seeks community input as it develops the plan that is part
of the City’s Comprehensive Plan Update. The Small Area Plan will provide guidance for issues including
redevelopment, building height, density, parking and pedestrian access. It doesn’t address any specific
development; it’s intended to provide an overall vision to the district.
This is the third community meeting to discuss the future of the area, which is along France Avenue from
Morningside Road to just north of West 45th Street. Since the last meeting, the working group has continued
to refine the guidelines and principles based on community input, including recent debate over building height
and use.
The meeting, which runs 7 to 9 p.m., will be open-house style. People are welcome to drop in at Edina
Morningside Community Church Fellowship Hall, 4201 Morningside Road, anytime during the meeting to
learn more and give their input. A short presentation on the plan will be given at 7:15 p.m. Attendees are
asked to use the side entrance to the church.
For those who can’t attend, more opportunities for input are upcoming, including public hearings.
Learn more about the plan at EdinaMN.gov/657/Small-Area-Plans or contact Transportation Planner Mark
Nolan, who is the project manager, at mnolan@EdinaMN.gov or 952-826-0322.
