The tour originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7, has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. The tour should last around an hour. Golf Course General Manager Joe Abood and Golf Course Superintendent Tom Swenson direct the tours. Special guest Richard Mandell, the architect of the new course, will also be present for the tour. Guests should meet at the clubhouse a few minutes before the tour begins. All tour-goers are encouraged to wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Mandell has designed courses across the United States and will give his thoughts on course design as well as talk about his process in designing the new course at Braemar. On previous tours, Abood and Swenson have shown guests greens that are under construction and educated them on the new irrigation and drainage systems. Guests can also expect to walk a few holes from tee box to green to get a feel for how the new course will play and what it will look like when completed. Abood and Swenson have yet to decide which holes and new features will be shown at the Oct. 26 tour, but know they will give tips for playing the course when it opens late next summer. The tour has room for 20 to 25 people. If you are interested in getting on the tour or for more information on the course and its progress, email Abood at jabood@EdinaMN.gov. -30-
