Help Plan for the Future of the 70th& Cahill Area
Edina, Minn., Nov. 15, 2017 – Help plan for the future of the 70th & Cahill area during the first of
three community workshops on Saturday, Dec. 9.
This Small Area Plan the City of Edina is developing will focus on potential opportunities for change
in the area, which includes the commercial node at West 70th Street and Cahill Road, extending east
to the railroad tracks and south to Amundson Avenue. This plan will be part of the overall 2018
Comprehensive Plan Update.
During the workshop, participants will learn about small area plans, provide input on the future
vision of the area, contribute to the development of guiding principles, and break up into small
groups to identify issues.
City staff members, consultants BIKO and Associates, and members of the 70th & Cahill Small Area
Plan Working Group will be on hand to present information, answer questions and assist.
This “Discovery” workshop begins at 9 a.m. with time to mingle. Background presentations and
questions will run 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., followed by issue identification. The workshop will
conclude at noon.
The second workshop, called “Dream” for its focus on plans for the area, will be 9 a.m. to noon
Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018. A third “Progress” update will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018.
All three meetings will be at the Edina Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility, 7450 Metro Blvd.
