Edina Art Center Up North Holiday Gift Gallery Opens Nov. 16
Edina, Minn., Nov. 2, 2017 – The Edina Art Center will hold its annual Up North Holiday Gift Gallery Nov.
16-Dec. 29. The gallery features one-of-a-kind handmade gifts created by nearly 40 regional artists.
“New this year, we are selling essential oil soaps and lip balms. We also have some jewelry made out of exotic
wood with a graphic, clean style to it and we have a variety of woven knits out of merino wool, alpaca, cotton,
ribbon and other natural materials,” explained Art Center Pottery Studio Manager Sandra Shaughnessy. “We’ll
have a lot of favorites from years past as well, including Reier Woods which are contemporary, colorful
wooden trees and reindeers; wood turned bowls by Otto Gotzsche; hand-knit infinity neck cowls by Melissa
Melby; and paper cast ornaments that have an old-world holiday quality that people love and have been
collecting every year.”
A members-only preview hour will be held 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. Members will receive an extra 10
percent savings on any purchase made on opening night. Following the preview hour, the gallery will open to
the general public from 6 to 8 p.m. A warm holiday beverage and appetizers will be served. Door prizes made
by local artists and artists in the exhibition will be drawn every 30 minutes.
For those unable to attend the grand opening, the public is invited to visit the gallery during regular business
hours anytime between Nov. 16 and Dec. 29. Shoppers are encouraged to shop early and often. New items will
be restocked as needed throughout the season. The gallery is open to all and will have a range of price points to
fit any budget, from $5 to $250.
