All are welcome to participate, including residents and those who work in or visit Edina. This interactive event is meant to encourage people with various backgrounds and experiences to talk with and learn about each other. Attendees will meet others in the community, listen to them and share their own stories and insights. Organizers hope to draw a wide variety of participants, from those who haven’t witnessed discrimination in Edina to those who have experienced it firsthand. The community meetings – the first of which was held in October – are a critical piece of the information- gathering process of the City’s Race & Equity Task Force, which is examining Edina City government policies and operations to understand how City practices may contribute to unequal treatment of Edina community members. Recommendations from the Task Force are expected in mid-2018. “By coming together, we can help Edina grow and ensure that City policies do not contribute to the inequitable treatment of our friends and neighbors,” said Task Force Co-Chair Jessi Kingston. South View Middle School is at 4725 South View Lane. Please enter the school through Door No. 3 from the back parking lot off of Concord Avenue. People who are unable to attend but still would like to contribute to the process are asked to fill out a short online survey available on the Task Force’s web page, EdinaMN.gov/Race-Equity.
