Commuter Services Recognizes City of Edina
Edina, Minn., Aug. 25, 2017 – Commuter Services, a local transportation management organization that
serves Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka and Richfield along the Interstate Highway 494
corridor, recently recognized the City of Edina for its efforts in promoting sustainable commuter modes as
taking the bus, biking, carpooling, vanpooling, walking or teleworking from home.
The City was presented Commuter Services’ government award for recognizing “Living Streets Champions”
in the community and educating residents through its Street Smarts campaigns that promote the increasingly
active, livable and sustainable community of Edina. City of Edina Communications & Technology Services
Director Jennifer Bennerotte was also recognized as a Commuter Champion for overseeing those types of
projects.
“In her role, Jennifer has steered the department toward tremendous growth, increasing the City’s reach and
impact,” said Kate Meredith of Commuter Services during the awards presentation. “She and her staff
expertly communicate about the City’s infrastructure and programs that increase livability and make biking
and walking easier. Jennifer has also been a great supporter of Commuter Services over the years and we are
grateful to have such a stellar partner to bring our message to a wider audience.”
The awards were presented during Commuter Services’ annual State of the Commute employer summit.
This year’s event was held at Best Buy corporate headquarters in Richfield where attendees were given a
guided tour highlighting Best Buy’s commuter programs and commuter-friendly amenities. The event also
included a briefing on interstate construction projects and transit updates on Southwest Light Rail Transit
and Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit.
