Former Hooten’s Cleaners Building to be Demolished as Early as
Monday, Aug. 6.
Edina, Minn., August 1, 2017 – The City of Edina has awarded the demolition project of the
former Hooten’s Cleaners & Launderers building in downtown Edina to Rachel Contracting, Inc.,
which plans to start demolition as early as Monday, Aug. 6.
The building is located next to the post office on Market Street near 50th & France. The contractor
started bringing equipment to the site Thursday, Aug. 3.
“We are excited to begin the process of removing the building that has been vacant for over three
years,” said Public Works Director Brian Olson. “We recognize that Hooten’s Cleaners was a
longstanding business within the district, but we are happy to execute the vision for Market Street
and improve parking within the district.”
The contractors anticipate the demolition to take seven to 10 days, followed by soil corrections. The
entire project is expected to be completed by mid-September.
For more information about the project, contact Olson at 952-826-0311 or bolson@EdinaMN.gov
or Facility Manager Tim Barnes at 952-826-0305 or tbarnes@EdinaMN.gov.
