The tour starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, and will last about an hour. Guests should meet in the clubhouse a few minutes before the tour begins. All tour-goers are encouraged to wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Golf Course General Manager Joe Abood and Golf Course Superintendent Tom Swenson direct the tours. On the previous tours, Abood and Swenson have shown guests greens that are under construction and educated them on the new irrigation and drainage systems. As well as seeing the new features of the course, guests can expect to walk a few holes from tee box to green to get a feel for how the new course will play and what it will look like when completed. “We’re at a point in the construction process where you can see noticeable changes,” said Abood. “Up to this point, it has been a lot of mass earth moving, so you really couldn’t tell what’s going on. Now, you’re seeing the shapes of the holes and fairways and greens and tees.” Golfer Pacy Erck went on the first tour of the course in early August. “I really marvel at how someone can look at this plot of land and see a new golf course,” said Erck. “The course will have a ton of options for all golfers. You can take a challenge if you’re a low handicap golfer or you can take an easier approach. The beauty I see is choices.” Abood and Swenson have yet to decide which holes and features they will highlight on the upcoming tour, but know they will be giving out tips and tricks to playing the new course when it opens late next summer. Each tour will have room for around 20 to 25 people and last for about an hour.
