Wilson received the accolade for his continuous leadership in Assessor Education. “I had no idea it was coming, so I was speechless,” said Wilson. “I’m very honored and humbled.” Wilson, who has served as City Assessor for the City of Edina for 14 years, has been a member of MAAO since 1987, where he’s instructed many courses and workshops, including Basic Income, Income Case Study, Residential Case Study and Residential Form Report, in addition to numerous seminars. Wilson also served as MAAO President from 2001 to 2002. Prior to coming to the City of Edina, Wilson worked as City Assessor for the City of Hopkins, Residential Appraiser for the City of St. Louis Park and Appraisal Assistant at Hennepin County. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics and English from Mount Scenario College in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. “Bob has worked tirelessly over the years to get our courses approved for Department of Commerce credit and provided quality education in the form of numerous seminars,” said Kyle Homes, President of MAAO. “He’s been instrumental in the progression of our new educational coordinator in bringing MAAO into the 21st Century. “In speaking with people who have worked with him or for him or alongside him in the past, it has been amazing the unbelievably good things everyone has had to say,” he said. City of Edina Appraiser Nate Stulc, who worked on nominating Wilson for the award, added that, “Bob is the epitome of a great boss. His knowledge, support, compassion and humor make our office an incredible place to work. Personally, he has been the most influential person in my career, education and many life decisions.
