FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Third-Annual ‘Open Streets on 50th’ Set For Sept. 24
Edina, Minn., Sept. 6, 2015 – The City of Edina will close West 50th Street between Wooddale Avenue in
Edina and Chowen Avenue in Minneapolis along with France Avenue from 49½ Street to 51st Street Sunday,
Sept. 24, for the third-annual “Open Streets on 50th” event.
Along with the 50th & France Business & Professional Association, the City invites the community to get
outside, be active and connect with neighbors from 1 to 5 p.m.
The street will be open to bikes and pedestrians to enjoy music, food, dance, games, arts, yoga and other
creative and active events. Civic, athletic, artistic, creative and neighborhood groups, as well as businesses, will
participate by hosting events, demonstrations, activities and more. Dogs are welcome at the event.
“We are looking forward to another engaged crowd that enjoys kids’ games, family activities, basketball,
music, samples, foods from our local restaurants, beer from Red Cow, fun games and the ability to explore
their neighborhood downtown for the afternoon,” said Rachel Thelemann, Executive Director of the 50th &
France Business & Professional Association.
A listing of activities and booths will be posted on the City’s website closer to the event date.
Anyone interested can help make Open Streets on 50th a success by volunteering. Volunteers are needed to
help set up, tear down, assist at information booths and survey. To volunteer, email Project Coordinator MJ
Lamon at MLamon@EdinaMN.gov.
