City of Edina
WHEREAS, the Minnesota legislature in 1999 had legislation introduced relating to
transportation; appropriating money for highway noise barriers; authorizing state bonds, and
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes; (HF 904 and SF 982) and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned legislation was referred to the Transportation Policy
Committee and did not receive final action during the 1999 legislative session.
WHEREAS, the City of Edina experiences significant noise pollution from freeways bisecting
the City;and
WHEREAS, the City of Edina has completed a freeway noise mitigation study in consultation
with neighborhoods along TH 62, TH 100, and TH 169 that addressed the technical and
financial feasibility of noise wall construction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Edina City Council that the aforementioned
legislation is strongly supported.
• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Edina City Council urges the enactment of House File
904 and Senate File 982 during the upcoming 2000 legislative session.
