Planning Commission Seeks Members for the
50th & France Working Group
Edina, Minn., April 12, 2018 – The Edina Planning Commission is looking for applicants for a new working
group for 50th & France. Members of this working group would work with City staff and its consultants to
engage neighborhood residents, businesses and other stakeholders in the 50th & France area for the purposes
of developing and drafting a Small Area Plan as part of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan Update. Additionally,
Work Group members will participate in working meetings and will present the recommended Small Area
Plan to the Planning Commission.
“We expect that members of this Working Group will be able to take a leadership role and serve as
champions for the City’s Small Area Plan. Our Small Area Plan provides a vision for the future of the 50th &
France area, which can be used as a framework to guide potential developments and City investments,” said
Community Development Director and Planning Commission Staff Liaison Cary Teague.
Working Group members will meet 6 to 12 times and help facilitate three Small Area Plan workshops
throughout the community. The Small Area Plan will be presented to the Planning Commission for review
and to City Council for approval in late summer or early fall. The final plan will become a component of the
2018 Comprehensive Plan Update.
The Working Group will consist of seven members and will be led by two additional Planning Commission
members. The Working Group is open to residents and Edina property and business owners. Interested
candidates can apply online at EdinaMN.gov/Volunteer. Applications are due by Thursday, May 3.
