A five-year leave with options for two additional five-year terms was approved by the Edina City Council Tuesday, May 15. Red River Kitchen plans to start service with its food truck at Braemar Golf Course and to Academy 9 golfers as soon as possible. Red River Kitchen is known for its farm-to-table food featuring American cuisine, pub fare, barbecue and international comfort foods. The menus always include vegetarian, gluten-free and kid-friendly options. It operates the food truck and has a seasonal restaurant in St. Paul. It’s owned and operated by the same people behind Republic, Bar Brigade and the newly opened Spring Café at Como Lake. The proposal from Red River Kitchen was one of four the City received to replace the former Tin Fish restaurant. “They were the ones who, by far, had the best proposal,” Braemar Golf Course General Manager Joe Abood said. “The proposal that they put in was very specific to Braemar. It listed so many things they wanted to do here. They definitely want to be involved in the community and make the restaurant here a community destination.” The new restaurant will be known as Red River Kitchen at Braemar. In addition to the sit-down space, the company will operate the banquet area of the Clubhouse, counter service, beverage carts and service to all the patios, decks and new multi-use lawn area opening by the Clubhouse. Red River Kitchen also will serve the Academy 9 Clubhouse and Braemar Golf Dome. The company plans to offer or assist in special events, such as viewing parties of PGA and LPGA Majors. The City of Edina will receive 6 percent of gross sales until the Championship 18 Course, which is under construction, opens in Spring 2019. Once that course opens, the City will receive 12.5 percent of gross sales April 1-Sept. 30 and 10.5 percent during the off-peak months, according to the lease. In addition, Red River Kitchen will pay for its share of common area maintenance and utilities. Red River Kitchen is in the process of obtaining a liquor license and will offer beer, wine and spirits. Services will be rolled out to Braemar Golf Course visitors over the next several weeks.
