Blitz is a 4-year-old German Shepherd Dog from Slovakia. Young and Blitz began work as a K9 team in February 2015. The duo needs recertification by the USPCA every year. This year, 103 teams of handlers and K9s competed in the trials. Young and Blitz not only received their recertification with excellence, they also took home two-second place awards. The K9 team placed second in the obedience and agility competitions. “They have both worked hard this past year to prepare and it is obvious that their hard work has paid off,” said Edina Police Sgt. Mark Melander. For more information on the Edina Police Department’s K9 teams, contact Melander at MMelander@EdinaMNn.gov or call the Edina Police Department at 952-826-1610. -30-
