The Edina Police and Fire departments encourage residents to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors Aug. 7. In the past, more than 80 Night to Unite block parties have registered with the City of Edina. Party organizers can request a free visit by a police car, fire truck, ambulance, Animal Control, Sparky, K-9 Officer or Bike Patrol Officer. Resources are limited, so register early to request a visitor. “Edina has a great community feel and part of that is due to strong neighborhood events like this,” said Sgt. Brian Hubbard, who is organizing this year’s Night to Unite. “The evening offers neighbors a chance to get to know one another better, get questions answered and bring local police and fire departments and communities together for a fun night.” Night to Unite was created to promote neighborhood spirit, increase awareness in crime prevention and build a stronger partnership between the police and fire departments and community members.
