Greater Southdale Area Working Group to host July 12 Open House
Edina, Minn., June 25, 2018 – The Greater Southdale Area Working Group will host an open house 6:30-
8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility, 7450 Metro Blvd. The purpose
of the open house is to present the group’s progress and receive thoughts and feedback from residents. A
second open house will be held in the fall.
Already one of the region’s primary commercial, residential and retail districts, the Greater Southdale Area is
uniquely positioned to demonstrate a process for how public and private interests can come together to
collectively shape a vision for a new paradigm of suburban community development.
The existing district offers a remarkable variety of assets – a major medical center, significant retail and
entertainment offerings, multi-family and senior housing, civic and recreation venues, and corporate offices.
This diversity can be amplified by furthering a clear design vision and implementation strategy that will yield
higher values for stakeholders.
The vision is to create a transformative, vibrant, forward-looking and human-centered district that is walkable
and family friendly.
The Working Group will answer questions, take comments and listen to concerns from residents at the open
house.
