Braemar Golf Course Names New Head Golf Professional
Edina, Minn., Nov. 26, 2018 – Braemar Golf Course has named Jay Meyerhoff as the new Head
Golf Professional, just the third person to hold that position in Braemar’s 54-year history.
Meyerhoff is an Iowa native who comes to Edina after eight years as the PGA Head Golf Professional
at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove. His arrival Nov. 26 comes at an exciting time as Braemar
prepares its Spring 2019 unveiling of the new 18-hole course designed by Richard Mandell.
“We are pleased to welcome Jay to reopen the new Braemar Championship Golf Course,” said
Braemar Golf Course General Manager Joe Abood. “We know he will be instrumental in elevating
our golf operations and growing our teaching program for the future.”
As Head Golf Pro, Meyerhoff will be in charge of the instructors, programs and the pro shops at
Braemar. He takes over as Braemar brings the instruction staff in house instead of having
independent contractors teach all the lessons.
“We feel extremely lucky to have found someone with Jay’s experience to lead our new golf
professional staff,” said Abood. “He brings a wealth of operational experience, a passion for golf
instruction, and a commitment to provide best-in-class customer service to our customers.”
Meyerhoff played golf at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, before shifting to Northern
Arizona University where he graduated in 2000 with a business degree. He later received a degree in
Golf Management from Mundus Institute in Arizona while working in player services at the Alta Mesa
Country Club in Mesa, Arizona. He became an assistant golf professional at Medina Golf and
Country Club in Medina, Minnesota, in 2002, where he worked for eight years until taking the Head
Pro position at Rush Creek.
Meyerhoff is entering his 17th year of coaching high school golf. He has linked his love of golf with
helping others by helping launch the Ian Leonard Bad Pants Open, an annual celebrity golf
tournament that benefits Special Olympics Minnesota and the Minnesota PGA Foundation. This year,
he also started “100 Holes for HOPE,” which benefits military veterans.
A PGA member since 2005, Meyerhoff is a PGA Certified Professional in General Management, Golf
Operations, Player Development, and Teaching and Coaching. He serves on the Minnesota PGA
Section Board and as chairman of the Player Development Committee.
