The retirees had over 131 years of cumulative experience. “We are very fortunate to have such a large number of staff who stay with the City during the majority of their careers,” said HR Generalist Cassi McMayer. “Edina is a great place to work and the residents benefit from the extensive experience that these long-term employees have and continue to bring to their work.” First quarter retirements included:  Detective Erik Amundson, Police, 32 years (retired Jan. 31)  Maintenance Operations Coordinator Richard Green, Braemar Golf Course, 12 years (retired Jan. 3)  Public Service Worker – Parks Bill Hanly, Parks & Recreation, 35 years (retired Feb. 28)  City Clerk Deb Mangen, Administration, 23 years (retired Jan. 4)  Building Permit Specialist Jackie Onischuk, Fire – Building Inspections Division, 29 years (retired March 29) The City of Edina has many staff who have spent decades of their career with the City and are reluctant to end this chapter of their lives. “It was a hard decision,” said Onischuk of deciding to retire March 29. “I really like working here, but I’ve had co-workers who had to retire because of health. I thought, ‘OK, fine, let just do it.’ I don’t want to say I wish I’d retired a long time ago.” Hanly will miss many of the daily tasks that residents often take for granted. Even just preparing a clean sheet of ice brought him satisfaction. “It makes it all worthwhile,” he said. “It’s amazing working for a city with residents who have such an appetite for ice.” For more information about City staffing, contact the Human Resources Department at 952-826-0364. -30-
