RESOLUTION NO. 2013-86
Supporting Application for Hennepin County's 2014 Sidewalk Participation Program
For Sidewalks On Vernon Avenue (on the north side, from Gleason Road to Blake
Road and from Doncaster Way to Ayrshire Boulevard) and York Avenue (on the
west side, from 66th Street West to the Southdale Transit Hub)
WHEREAS, the City of Edina has identified the importance of sidewalk and pedestrian
planning through the Transportation Comprehensive Plan and its Living Streets Policy;
WHEREAS, the City of Edina Transportation Comprehensive Plan identify projects needed
to achieve the City's overall vision for a comprehensive community of non-motorized transportation
system; and,
WHEREAS, the construction of safe and convenient pedestrian facilities near schools,
commercial areas and parks will provide transportation access to potentially vulnerable users not
traveling by vehicle; and,
WHEREAS, County funds will be used to supplement the Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety
(PACS) Fund for these projects, leveraging these funds to make the Ci more walkable.
