WHEREAS, the City Council requested staff to review the West 58th Street corridor at
the May 18, 2010 City Council meeting; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directed staff to implement bicycle lane along the
corridor at the September 21, 2010 City Council meeting; and
WHEREAS, State Statute 160.263 Subd. 4 provides that the City Council may
designate a safe speed for any street or highway under its authority upon which is has
established a bicycle lane provided that such safe speed shall not be lower than 25 miles
per hour; and
WHEREAS, on December 21, 2010, the City Council approved Resolution 2010-128
reducing the speed limit to 25 mph and said resolution is rescinded;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina:
1. Resolution 2010-128 is rescinded.
2. The City has established and hereby designates bicycle lanes on West 58th Street
between France Avenue (County Road 17) and Xerxes Avenue (County Road 31),
designates the speed limit on this section of roadway as 25 miles per hour, and authorizes
the change of the speed limit signs on this section of roadway from 30 mph to 25 mph.
