Dockless E-Scooters Available in Edina
Edina, Minn., July 2, 2019 – Looking to get around town but don’t have your own wheels? Edina residents and visitors have access to electric scooters through a new micro-mobility sharing
service.
Lime has begun to deploy dockless electric scooters, or e-scooters, to various areas within Edina. The program was implemented as a continuation of last year’s pilot program, following
approval from the City Council in March. The program will run through the end of the year and will be evaluated for long-term implementation at that point. Lime has also been authorized
to deploy escooters in nearby communities.
In accordance with Minnesota State Statute, e-scooters can be operated wherever bicycles are permitted except for sidewalks. Per the City’s agreement with Lime, e-scooters can be parked
on any public sidewalk so long as they provide at least 3 feet of clearance for pedestrians and otherwise create the least obstruction to pedestrian traffic.

Off-street bike paths/trails
Sidewalks
Paths/trails designated for pedestrians only (Bredesen and Centennial Lakes parks)
E-scooters all have contact information on them so residents can contact Lime directly to have bikes picked up if they are found in inappropriate places; the City will not pick up e-scooters.
People can report any e-scooters that need attention or are being misused to Lime’s 24/7 customer service team in several ways:

To use the e-scooters, riders should download the Lime app. All e-scooters are GPS and 3G-enabled, making it simple for riders to find, unlock and pick up a nearby vehicle using a smartphone.
Unlocking an e-scooter costs $1, then 15 cents per minute. When the ride is finished, riders simply follow instructions in the app to end the ride and responsibly park it in an appropriate
location. Users can also find information in the app about distance traveled, calories burned and emissions saved.
