Participants should meet at the clubhouse a few minutes before the start of the walk at 6:30 p.m. “All Edina residents should be proud of the changes made to Braemar Golf Course, including the new Championship 18-hole course. It was designed for fun for golfers of all abilities and a significant amount of environmental work was undertaken, including prairie restoration areas, new forms of wetlands for water and storm water management and the newly established areas of oak savannah,” said Mayor Jim Hovland. “You don't have to be a golfer to enjoy the walk, so come and join us and, when complete, we can visit the new Red River Kitchen in the clubhouse for a beverage!" Braemar Golf Course General Manager Joe Abood will also attend the walk to answer questions about the course. Participating in the Walk with the Mayor gives community members a chance to voice concerns, share opinions and thoughts as well as just talk with Hovland while getting to know the city a little bit better. No prior registration is required to attend Walk With the Mayor; simply show up at the designated meeting time to walk and talk with Hovland. Summer walks are held during the week to accommodate busy weekend schedules. Walk with the Mayor will move back to Saturday mornings after Labor Day. Upcoming walks include: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, Centennial Lakes Park 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Rosland Park 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, Arden Park 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, Galleria 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, Southdale Center Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes. In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be held at Southdale Center.
