Road Projects to Begin on West 50th Street, Interlachen Boulevard
Edina, Minn., Sept. 5, 2019 – Two separate road projects scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 9, will affect traffic along West 50th Street and Interlachen Boulevard.
While no road closures are anticipated, drivers should expect delays if traveling through the two work areas:
West 50th Street between Wooddale and Halifax avenues
Interlachen Boulevard between Blake Road South and Brookside Avenue
Contractor GMH Asphalt will perform what’s known as a “mill and overlay” in both areas. Workers will remove the top layer of pavement, repave and then restripe the roads.
The work is expected to take 5 to 10 working days, depending on weather.
While no signed detours will be posted, drivers may want to use West 44th or West 54th streets as options around the West 50th work. Vernon Avenue is an optional route around the Interlachen
work site.
Mill-and-overlay procedures extend the life of streets and provide a smoother surface for vehicles.
