We thought it would be nice for our club and skate school skaters to meet her,” said Kathleen Gazich, Co-Head Professional of Braemar-City of Lakes Figure Skating Club. “She is an inspiration because she pursued her dreams for many years.” The event is free to attend and starts with an on-ice demonstration by Nagasu from 10 to 10:20 a.m., followed by the autograph signing. Nagasu’s story of dedication and perseverance is inspiring, and Figure Skating Club and Braemar Skating School staff are excited for her to share her perspective and experience with younger skaters. “She was on the Olympic team when she was 16 years old and 4 years later, she wasn’t selected for the team. So, she worked hard and learned the very difficult triple axel and then made the 2018 Olympic team. She was the first American women to perform the Triple Axel in the Olympics which lead to the U.S. ream earning a bronze medal in the team event,” said Gazich. Braemar Arena offers programs for all ages and abilities: Learn to Skate (children and adults), Dream Skating (adaptive and therapeutic), Beginning Hockey, Figure Skating, Synchronized Skating and homeschool skating classes.
