Balog, a former skeptic of climate change, set himself on a mission to gather undeniable evidence of climate change with the use of his camera. Balog’s hauntingly beautiful video compresses years of stills into seconds and captures ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. It is the recipient of dozens of awards, including the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Excellence in Cinematography Award: U.S. Documentary. “‘Chasing Ice’ is a dramatic representation of the speed at which climate change is happening,” said Paul Thompson, Energy & Environment Commissioner. “Climate change is about extreme weather events. This film tells an incredible story about the future of our climate.” For more information about the film, visit www.chasingice.com.
