City of Edina and Southdale YMCA To Offer Free Gardening
Basics Classes
Edina, Minn., Jan. 8, 2014 – Daydreaming about spring? Beginning Friday, Jan. 17, the City of Edina is
offering free gardening classes hosted at Southdale YMCA, 7355 York Ave., with master gardener Larry
Cipolla. Classes will be held 6:30-8 p.m.
Topics of the monthly classes are: Backyard Composting, Jan. 17; Seeds and Seedlings, Feb. 21; Veggies One
by One, March 21; and Advanced Veggies and Herbs, April 11. Call the Parks & Recreation Department at
952-826-0367 by the Thursday prior to let staff know you are attending.
Larry Cipolla is a master gardener in Hennepin County and has been gardening for more than 40 years. He is
a frequent speaker to garden clubs, community gardens, master gardeners and gardeners of all types and
levels of experiences. Handouts will be available at each class.
