Artist Ray Meifert approached Pastor Scott Searl of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Edina to see if he would be interested. Searl liked the idea so much that he designated a permanent space at the church for artwork display. Furthermore, he purchased a new hanging system and painted walls with a fresh coat of paint so that churchgoers could see the art in the best light. In the words of Meifert, “We are looking to bring the artwork out into the community for everyone to enjoy.” Artist Louise Gillis is currently featured at Shepherd of the Hills. Gillis’ opening reception was held 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is located at 500 Blake Road S. If you have a venue to showcase artwork, or if you have questions, contact Michael Frey at 952-903-5729 or mfrey@EdinaMN.gov. -30-
