City Accepting Nominations for Mayor’s Commendations
Edina, Minn., March 27, 2014 –The City of Edina is accepting nominations for its top awards for volunteers, to
be presented Tuesday, April 29, at the 35th-annual Volunteer Awards Reception at Braemar Golf Course.
Awards to be given include:
Mayor’s Individual Service Commendation – Awarded to an individual for his or her outstanding and
exceptional volunteer service to the community at large.
Mayor’s Community Involvement Commendation – Awarded to a City employee for outstanding
volunteer service to the community, above and beyond his or her position with the City.
Mayor’s Connecting With Kids Commendation – Awarded to an individual or organization making a
positive impact in the lives of Edina youth.
Mayor’s Outstanding Senior Commendation – Awarded to a senior citizen for outstanding volunteer
service within the community.
Mayor’s Service Club Commendation – Awarded to a club or organization that has made outstanding
contributions to the community through its regular activities or through special projects.
Mayor’s Youth Commendation – Awarded to a young person who has demonstrated a commitment to
improving the quality of life in the community.
Winners will receive a glass award, certificate and recognition in a future City publication. Nominations are due
4:30 p.m. Friday, April 4. To nominate someone, complete a nomination form available online at
www.EdinaMN.gov and submit it along with any supporting information to Executive Assistant Heather Branigin.
Service clubs and organizations may also recognize their outstanding volunteers at the Volunteer Awards
Reception. Each organization may recognize one volunteer. Organizations must submit the names of their
honored volunteers to Branigin by 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 4. A participation sheet may be downloaded from the
City’s website.
Reservations for the Volunteer Awards Reception are due Friday, April 11. Cost to attend is $20 per person.
