City vehicles from Edina, Bloomington and Richfield to be on
display for Vehicle Day
Edina, Minn., April 23, 2014 – Keeping our cities clean, safe and operational requires plenty of teamwork
and careful coordination. It also requires the use of some serious vehicles and machinery! Get up close to the
vehicles at Vehicle Day from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 3, at Southdale Center’s parking lot by AMC.
Join Edina, Bloomington and Richfield, in cooperation with Simon Malls’ Kidgits Club, as we celebrate the
vehicles that keep our communities running smoothly. Drivers will also be on hand to share information and
ensure safety.
The vehicles on display include a ladder truck from the Richfield Fire Department, an ambulance from the
Edina Fire Department, a Holiday Station tanker truck, a Bearcat and police sedan from the Edina Police
Department, buses from Edina Public Schools, and buses from the Richfield Bus Company. Also on display will
be garbage trucks, utility and park maintenance vehicles and a limousine.
All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free.
In addition to children getting their photos taken in the driver’s seat of the vehicles, they can visit the Edina
Reads information booth by the school bus, get their faces painted courtesy of Edina Early Childhood Family
Education and hang out at Choo Choo Bob’s train tables, provided by the Minneapolis Early Childhood Family
Education.
