The City of Edina has launched a mobile app called “Edina To Go” where residents can connect with their local government. The free app, available in the iTunes App Store and Android Google Play store, gives residents quick, easy access to City information and allows residents to report problems such as potholes, street light issues, damaged street signs and other issues. “This will transform the way residents interact with the City and find information,” said Communications Coordinator Jordan Gilgenbach. “Not only will the service requests be streamlined and more timely, the app gives residents quick access to City Council contact information, recycling schedules, a listing of parks, City news and more.” Gilgenbach notes the app’s content can be changed on the fly and will constantly be updated. “This is a way to literally put Edina’s City government in residents’ hands to help us solve problems and issues,” said City Manager Scott Neal. To develop Edina To Go, the City partnered with PublicStuff, a company that specializes in mobile apps and service requests for municipalities. PublicStuff has worked with cities big and small, including Philadelphia and New York City, to give cities a mobile presence. “This is further evidence of the City of Edina's strong commitment to being responsive to the needs of their community,” said Surya Yalamanchili, CEO of PublicStuff. “We’re excited to partner with Edina in making it easier for residents to work together in improving their neighborhoods.” The City of Edina was the first city in Minnesota to partner with PublicStuff. The City of St. Louis Park is also working with the company and expects to launch its app in July. For more information about Edina To Go, visit www.EdinaMN.gov/edina-to-go. -30-
