Over 2,000 Explorers from throughout the country participated. The Explorer program was designed to provide training for young adults on the purpose, mission and objectives of law enforcement. The program gives students leadership opportunities, career orientation experiences and community service activities. Participants are positioned to choose a career path within law enforcement and challenged to become responsible citizens of their communities. “The Explores have worked intensely all year preparing at weekly training sessions, including the Duluth and State Conferences,” said Patrol Office David Boosalis, one of the Post’s advisors. “Their hard word has paid off.” The Edina/Eden Prairie Explorer received the following individual awards:  1st place – Police Exam and Physical Fitness Testing, awarded to Explorer Alex Geiger  2nd place – Police Exam Category, awarded to Explorer Katie Kline “The competition at Nationals is extremely challenging,” said Boosalis. “[The Edina/Eden Prairie Explorers] scored a 97 percent in Domestics, which, surprisingly, was not high enough to place.” Over 750 Explorers took the Police Exam test and only four received 100 percent. Of those four, two were Edina/Eden Prairie Explorers. “I was really proud of the Explorers,” said Patrol Office Nicole Pesek. “[Their success] just shows what kind of kids we have on our Post. They're very smart.” The Edina/Eden Prairie Post No. 925 is open to young men and women ages 14 through 20 with an interest in learning more about a career in law enforcement. Young members must have completed the eighth grade to participate. For more information on the Edina/Eden Prairie Explorers program, contact Boosalis at 952-826-1610 or DBoosalis@EdinaMN.gov. -30-
